A Bit About Me

My name is Casey Swindler and I’m thrilled to have you join me in supporting children’s communication development. A bit about myself is that I’m a wife and mother to Callan (3), Benjamin (1.5), and boy #3 will arrive around Thanksgiving. I absolutely love being a boy mom, but I also love being a speech language pathologist.

I have personally benefited from the field of speech pathology, so when it came to choosing what I would study in college, it was a no brainer. I attended Eastern Illinois University for my undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and went to Florida State University’s distance learning program to complete my Master of Science in Speech Pathology. During my master’s program, I was pregnant (twice) and my husband deployed (twice). So if you’re someone who needs encouragement to pursue a dream that doesn’t seem attainable for whatever reason, I’m here to tell you that you can do anything you set your mind to with the support of loved ones and God.

Most of my clinical experience is working with pediatrics, specifically in a private practice and public center school for Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders. I love working with children and seeing them grow. I equally love working with parents, caregivers, and other professionals in helping children achieve communication goals.

What is Building Bridges?

I created Building Bridges to bridge the gap between parents and professionals when it comes to communication and literacy development. I wanted to build a space to empower and encourage parents with evidence based information that would allow them to best support their child’s communication within their every day lives. My weekly podcast episodes are intended to give an over view of the communication related topic, while the content I share in the Facebook group supplements podcast with a virtual community for further discussion to take place.

Thank you for being here and supporting a tired mama’s dream!

Much love,

Casey
